After discussions with our disaster relief partner GIVIT about the level of need on the ground in the wake of the recent Wide Bay-Burnett floods, we are donating $20,000 for the relief efforts on behalf of the Freemasons of Queensland.
100% of this donation will go directly to people affected by this natural disaster through trusted community organisations on the ground.
The Freemasons of Queensland have a long history of working together to support Queenslanders affected by natural disasters. Our partnership with GIVIT is supporting communities right now who are in need. You can add to this contribution by donating through the Hand Heart Pocket GIVIT Together Disaster Relief Appeal, if you can.
The funds you donate will help GIVIT and local community organisations to provide vouchers for those affected, to address immediate needs, like food, clothing and fuel. Many have lost the food that they had, others are having to drive further to get help, with many roads still being cut off. Others urgently need to buy new clothing.
This approach provides dignity to those affected, giving them choice. It also means funds are spent as locally as possible, helping local businesses.
